My status

Hello friends, how are you?

Last year was tought! A lot of work and just a few weekends to work on my arcade cabinet.

Last year I:

• Updated the PIAPARA driver to the latest kernel release for Mandriva 2010 Springs;
• Tested an VGA to CGA video converter I bought. Easy to use, but the image quality is not so good than ArcadeVGA;
• Did the cabinet art and started to apply;

I'll work hard these weekends to finish this cabinet because I want to play as soon as possible.

My arcade cabinet is 99% done

Hello friends, how are you? Happy new year!

I almost finished my new arcade cabinet, except for some little details. It's a 2-piece cabinet: one with monitor/sound and other for controls/computer. Now, it's time to working on a new version of PIAPARA LiveCD. Take a look:

My arcade cabinet is in production these days. Maybe in 2 or 3 weeks it must be done.

After that, the next step is to update the PIAPARA LiveCD and after, restart PIAPARA interface production.

People are sending messages and post question about this project. This project is oriented for arcade emulation only, not videogames. I did everything in Linux because we want performance. So, if you give some idea about a new application, it must be a Linux application.

Next release will be more interesting. I'll try to do a better compatibility and with a very faster boot time.

Working on my new arcade

Hello people, how are you?

Currently I'm working on my new arcade cabinet. I'll be a cocktail cabinet, with a 29" CGA flat monitor. Take a look:


Sorry for the posts. I'm really busy these months. Some time ago I almost lost all my work (bad partition data) and to prevent this, I just bought a new harddrive and a NAS to make two different backups. Now I'm in peace!

I'm trying to finish this cabinet as fast as I can, and when done, a new PIAPARA LiveCD will come.

32-bits or 64-bits?

Hello people, how are you?

These last weeks I was testing two versions of Mandriva 2010 Spring: 32 and 64 bits!

After testing the same compiler parameters, I got a little better performance under 64-bits enviroment. Games like CAPCOM ZN-1 and ZN-2 and others like Tekken 3 and Gauntled Legends are running at 100% without frameskip. Of course, my processor is a Phenom II Quad 3.4 Ghz, and this help, but at 32 bit these games runs about 89-93% speed only!

I'm thinking to move the next PIAPARA LiveCD release to 64-bits now. What do you think about it?

A new PIAPARA LiveCD is comming!

As a new Mandriva Linux is out, I'll release a new PIAPARA LiveCD.

Mandriva Linux 2010 Spring comes with a new kernel and I think we will have a better framebuffer support.
