Hello people, how are you?
These last weeks I was testing two versions of Mandriva 2010 Spring: 32 and 64 bits!
After testing the same compiler parameters, I got a little better performance under 64-bits enviroment. Games like CAPCOM ZN-1 and ZN-2 and others like Tekken 3 and Gauntled Legends are running at 100% without frameskip. Of course, my processor is a Phenom II Quad 3.4 Ghz, and this help, but at 32 bit these games runs about 89-93% speed only!
I'm thinking to move the next PIAPARA LiveCD release to 64-bits now. What do you think about it?

I wish there was both version together.
Now I'am running Piapara on older Athlon XP so 64-bit version would be unusable for me.
The trusted Athlon XP is exactly the single one platform that is usable for MAME while not being supported by 64-bit linux.
What about driver support for graphics, sound and network hardware? Are all of those available in 64 bit?
I do not have 32-bit hardware anymore but still I would rather prioritize maximal compatibilty over performance.
I do not know if you have some kind of automated build process for compiling the Piapara distro (maybe Apache Ant or something similar). Maybe that could help maintaining two versions side-by-side.
Ofcourse we need 64bit version!!!
hi, most peaple i know run their own mame arcade cabinet on older hardware, most x86 arch. I prefer x86 architecture or both. TY! Morkin
